Steven W. Kleinman
Steven KleinmanSteven W. Kleinman Steven W. Kleinman currently serves as in-house Special Counsel to the County of Monmouth, where he is responsible for handling labor and employment matters involving the County’s 3,000+ employees and 26 bargaining units. From April 2007 through December of 2009, he was the City of Hoboken’s Corporation Counsel, where he argued and won a precedent-setting open public records case before the New Jersey Supreme Court, Mason v. Hoboken, 196 N.J. 51 (2008). Mr. Kleinman started his legal career in private practice at the prominent Bergen County firm of Scarinci Hollenbeck, where he helped establish that local government attorneys are protected from Federal civil rights lawsuits for actions taken in furtherance of a representation in Loigman v. Township Committee of Tp. of Middletown, 185 N.J. 566 (2006). Mr. Kleinman is a cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University and a cum laude graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law, where he was a member of the Seton Hall Law Review. A Hoboken resident, Mr. Kleinman has been a Hudson County Trustee to the NJILGA since 2007.
